Department of Chemistry
Department of Chemistry
Name of Course Offered: (UG / PG) :
The Department of Chemistry was established in 2010 on a grantable basis and began its postgraduate M.Sc. Organic Chemistry program in 2019. Through consistent efforts such as hands-on training workshops, industrial visits, faculty exchange programs, and alumni interactions, the department has focused on providing quality education and enhancing employability. It actively engages students in various activities, including green chemistry techniques, classical and instrumental methods, household chemical preparation, and student-led seminars. Emphasis is placed on research and innovation, evident from over 18 UGC Care-listed publications and student research projects. Department organized one day international conference on topic ‘Chemistry and environment interface’ on 5 June 2020. The department makes extensive use of ICT tools like Google Classroom, YouTube (500+ videos), Google Meet, Zoom, Kahoot, Testmoz, and Google Forms to support interactive learning. These efforts are complemented by alumni contributions, MOUs with industries and institutions, and an excellent track record in university rankings and placements.

Department of Chemistry
The Chemistry Department provides an exceptionally rich learning environment for the study of this foundational science. Faculty members, who are generous with their time and knowledge, teach all courses in the department and plan and facilitate all research.
The department focuses on providing students with individual attention, promoted through small lecture and lab classes taught by professors committed to one-on-one and small-group interactions.
Students are encouraged to make oral and PowerPoint presentations, give seminars to enhance their creativity, communication skills and confidence. Innovative teaching methodologies incorporated in the regular teaching program help to develop and maintain students’ interest in chemistry. Some of these are:
- Wide use of ICT by both staff and students
- Experimental demonstrations
- Use of molecular models for organic and inorganic chemistry
- Guest lectures on topics in frontier areas of chemistry
- Industry visits / field trips
- Crosswords and quizzes
- Poster presentations
